The Oldest House Doesn't Make Sense. That's The Point.

The Federal Bureau of Control is a real government agency in this universe, tasked with studying and containing Altered Items, everyday objects imbued with paranatural power. The rubber duck. The refrigerator. The television. All in sealed storage in the basement. The Oldest House is the FBC's headquarters, and it was built around or perhaps by a location that breaks physics. It doesn't have a consistent interior layout. You get used to that. What you don't get used to is turning a corner and finding a maintenance corridor that leads to a concrete abyss with a floating janitor who knows more than anyone in the building. Control is full of moments like this, and each one lands because Remedy has earned the strangeness through consistent world-building.
